User Roles

User Roles are a core concept in WordPress – they (along with low-level “capabilities”) allow WordPress to flexibly provide user security.  SPMM builds upon this system and adds additional controls to each user role.

SPMM does not add any additional user roles – it simply uses what is already there.  WordPress itself creates 4 of them – Administrator, Author, Contributor, Editor and Subscriber.  Other plugins such as Easy Digital Downloads and WooCommerce will add additional roles.  All of them will appear in the SPMM User Roles list.

To access the user roles list in SPMM, just go to MEMBER MANAGER->USER ROLES.  There, you can click on any user role to enter an edit screen.

The edit screen will be divided into various sections.  The default sections are:

  • Administrative Permissions
  • General Permissions
  • Profile Access
  • Homepage Options
  • Registration Options
  • Login Options
  • Logout Options
  • Delete Options.

As you enable additional SPMM components additional sections will appear.
